Child knocked down and killed in Southport, witnesses sought

Police have opened a case of culpable homicide.

Witnesses are sought after an eight year old boy was knocked down and killed in Bendigo Road in Southport on Saturday, December 5 at about 9pm.

“It is alleged that the driver of a white bakkie failed to stop at the  scene of the accident,” said police spokesman, Capt Petros Mpinge.

Paramedics certified the child dead at the scene.

A case of culpable homicide has been opened for investigation by Southport SAPS.

Police request that any other witnesses to the accident to contact Southport SAPS at 039 681 9900.

According to police, the child has not been officially identified as yet.
