Three arrested after firearm found during N2 stop at Izotsha

An unlicensed 9mm pistol with five live rounds, cash and dagga were allegedly recovered.

Three men, aged 21, 31 and 41, were arrested after an unlicensed firearm, ammunition, cash and dagga were found during a vehicle search at Izotsha.

The men were arrested by members of the Port Shepstone Tactical Response Team while patrolling the N2 toll area in Izotsha on September 21.

According to police, officers became suspicious after the Volkswagen Polo in which the men were travelling made a U-turn and proceeded in the opposite direction.

Police followed the vehicle and stopped it before searching the occupants and the vehicle.

An unlicensed 9mm pistol with five live rounds, cash and dagga were recovered.

The three men appeared in the Port Shepstone Magistrates’ Court last Tuesday, on charges of possession of dagga, unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

Further charges may be added.
