Suspended municipal manager DD Naidoo departs after settlement with Ugu
Suspended municipal manager DD Naidoo has parted ways with Ugu District Municipality after a settlement was finalised today.
In a statement released by Ugu District Municipality today (April 30), the municipality has confirmed the finalisation and conclusion of the matter involving municipal manager DD Naidoo.
This comes after Mr Naidoo was placed on suspension following the release of the Section 106 investigation report by COGTA.
“Following a series of considerations made by municipal leadership on this matter, which among them includes avoiding to engage the municipality on a long protracted disciplinary processes with exorbitant financial implications,” said Mr. France Zama, senior manager in the mayoralty and communications office.
An amicable settlement equivalent to six months’ salary was concluded between the municipality and Mr Naidoo, to part ways amicably from employment contract with immediate effect.
“This will go a long way towards instilling stability in the administration and in ensuring that the municipality directs its efforts and financial resources towards fulfilling its service delivery obligations,” Zama said.
“The municipality will continue to institute consequence management proceedings to members of staff implicated in the section 106 investigation report,” he added.
In the interests of instilling stability in the municipality, leadership will now be seeking to expedite the process on making a suitable appointment to the position of municipal manager.
