Tweni ‘restart’ project kicks off with a bang
On behalf of the association, Jana Perold, secretary of URRA, thanked everyone who has donated towards the project.
Umtentweni Residents and Ratepayers Association (URRA) is on a mission to make a difference.
They have already started with the help and partnership of the Umtentweni Conservancy to clear up and cut back overgrown bushes along Commercial Road to the railway tracks.
And the transformation is incredible.
Last Saturday morning, residents also joined the clean up along Commercial Road.
Thanks to the amazing support of the community, they have been able to employ a group of men called the ‘Blade Runners’ to help with the cutting of the overgrown bush, not just along Commercial Road but also Eagle Road, so far.
On behalf of the association, Jana Perold, secretary of URRA, thanked everyone who has donated towards the project.
So far, they have raised R17 500.
Ms Perold says every cent is accounted for, and thanked an anonymous donor for the amazing amount of R5 000.
“The ‘Restart Tweni Project’ is and has already made a massive difference to restoring the suburb of Tweni,” said Ms Perold.
“We are looking for ‘Road Chairs’ who would take responsibility of getting their roads cleaned up by collecting donations from each household. The Blade Runners would then be employed to restore the road. Any donation is welcome,” she added.
Signboards have been printed thanks to Car Plates and Signs and are placed in the area where the Blade Runners are working, so to inform the community that they are in the area.
