Covid-19 vaccination sites have now been set-up in the Ugu district, making it much easier for the elderly to get their vaccines, as part of the second phase of the vaccination rollout plan which started on Monday this week.

The Department of Health vaccination sites under the Ugu Health District are located in the following areas.

Ray Nkonyeni Municipality:

* Gamalakhe Community Health Centre (ward 5)

* Murchison Hospital (ward 22)

* Port Shepstone Regional Hospital (ward 18)

Umdoni:

* GJ Crookes Hospital (ward 15) Umuziwabantu:

* St Andrews Hospital (ward 3)

Umzumbe:

* Mfundo Arnold Lushaba Community Health Centre (ward 19)

The operating hours for the vaccination sites are Monday to Friday, from 8am to 4pm.

At the same time, those aged 60 years and above are urged to sign up. According to the latest Covid-19 statistics in the Ugu district, there are more than 18 200 confirmed cases, 600 deaths and over 16 800 people have recovered from the disease.

Currently in KZN out of 11 district municipalities, only nine have vaccination centres. How to register on the Electronic Vaccination Data System (EVDS):

The Department of Health recommends that people register beforehand as vaccination centres are currently not allowing walk-ins.

Those living in old age homes will be registered and vaccinated there.

If you miss a vaccine appointment for any reason, you will be rescheduled.

If a person misses three appointments, they will not be rescheduled again. However, they will still be on the system, and can request to be scheduled again by calling the Covid-19 hotline or visiting a registration site.
