Umdoni upgrades progress

Since the official launch on May 4, roads, streetlights and verges among other service delivery imperatives have had improvements.

It is evident that Umdoni Municipality‘s multimillion rand Service Delivery Turnaround Strategy is progressing by the day.

Since the official launch on May 4, roads, streetlights and verges among other service delivery imperatives have had improvements.

Various roads have already been rehabilitated and a total of 32 roads are currently being worked on under wards 15, 10, 14, 17, 11,13 and 12.

“The streets are looking lighter and brighter as verge maintenance and streetlights rehabilitation work is implemented, said Umdoni communications manager, Sphelele Cele.

“Various sites are being attended to for verge maintenance services and there are eight currently receiving streetlight repairs.”

According to mayor, councillor Sibongile Khathi, the implementation of this turnaround strategy, is the municipality’s approach towards establishing a culture of team work between the municipality, Amakhosi, political parties, ratepayers’ associations and other community structures toward fulfilling the existing common agenda of developing Umdoni in its entirety.
