Ambulance on fire on N2 freeway near Scottburgh

Motorists are advised to be cautious when driving on this road.

An ambulance vehicle is currently on fire on the N2 freeway just before the bridge near Scottburgh.

According to a source at the scene, medical emergency services were responding to an accident on the N2 and parked the ambulance on the grass near the accident victims.

The ambulance suddenly caught alight and so did the grass surrounding it. Motorists are advised to be cautious when driving on this road. 

There are no further details at this stage. This is a developing story.

UPDATE:
The accident which the ambulance on fire was responding to (mentioned in the original story) was attended to by Netcare 911.

Netcare 911 spokesman, Shawn Herbst, confirmed this and added that reports indicate the driver lost control of the vehicle resulting in it rolling over onto the grass patch on the freeway.

Two of the three vehicle occupants sustained moderate injuries while the third had minor injuries.

The victims have since been transported to hospital.
