Sibongile is a semi-finalist in Mrs Universe Africa pageant
This is the second time round in the competition for the wife and mother of four. In 2020, she walked away with the talent title.
Sibongile Ndawo Engel of Mtwalume is a semi-finalist in the Mrs Universe Africa 2021 pageant and believes it is an ideal platform to have her voice heard.

Sibongile (40) is the only semi-finalist from KwaZulu-Natal and will take to stage with 60 other women from around South Africa and the African continent at the grand finale in Johannesburg on September 18.

The winner will represent Africa at the International Mrs Universe Pageant in South Korea, later in the year.
The pageant is directed by former Miss South Africa 2010, Bokang Montjane Shabalala.
“The purpose of Mrs Universe Africa is to empower women and uplift communities. It also encourages women to raise awareness on social issues such as gender based violence and mental health,” added Sibongile.
Contestants also raise funds to assist charity programmes and choose a charity to work with throughout their pageant journey.
“I am very excited to embark on this journey,” she said.

Also a social entrepreneur, commercial model and philanthropist, Sibongile who is a stroke survivor lives by the motto ‘dreams delayed are not dreams denied’.
Career-wise she is involved in various business ventures, as well as philanthropy through community projects, including as founder of the
Sibongile Ndawo Engel Foundation.
