The conservancy is very excited to announce that it is in the planning stages of its very own Open Gardens Day in Pennington next year: ‘Fabulous Pennington Open Gardens’.
The date will be mid February 2022 with the time being 10:00 to 15:00.
It is hoped to have three to four gardens on show, ideally a garden from each part of Pennington: central, Dolphin Drive side and the Barracouta Bend side.
Interested parties are asked to offer to open their gardens to the public on the day. Volunteers will also be needed to man gates, sell tickets and control parking. There will be a tea garden ‘Under the Wild Fig’ at Nkomba Nature Reserve picnic site with hot and cold drinks, as well as light meals and cakes.
Chicken for the Prego rolls has been donated already. Other donations are needed.
Tickets will cost R30 which will cover entrance to all the gardens and the tea garden. Tickets will be available at the Beach Café and at each gate on the day. If residents are happy to show off their summer garden or help in any way, please call Verne Boere on 083 6767167 or Viv Sandwith on 074 9772266.
