Business sector aims to uplift Umzinto
Chairman Roy Singh stated that this business sector committee welcomes all organizations to unite and work together towards a better Umzinto.
The extensive damage, looting and destruction in Umzinto last month left almost all Umzinto businesses, both formal and informal, without any means of opening their businesses.
In the wake of this, the Umzinto Business Chamber and other stakeholders collaborated and a decision was taken to form the Umzinto Business Sector Committee. At a well-attended meeting held at the Umzinto Town Hall last Wednesday (11th), an interim committee of 10 Umzinto business people were elected.

Chairman Roy Singh stated that this business sector committee welcomes all organizations to unite and work together towards a better Umzinto.
Advocate Reshwant Brijraj, the general secretary of the Umdoni Business Chamber, mentioned that the chamber will work together and support the Umzinto Business Sector Committee to tackle business related issues that were raised at the meeting.
He also mentioned that they are committed as an umbrella body to access all available assistance that is required to help rebuild Umzinto to its past glory and economic hub.
The Umzinto Business Sector Committee will be meeting again soon to draft a plan of action and to tackle issues which Umdoni Municipality can assist to rectify.
