Safety, security and business prioritised

The business welfare sub-committee will be convened by Nitha Harripersadh and a team made up of Ayoob Amla, Adam Ally, Shaheen Belim and Cecilia Dlamini.

The first meeting of the interim Umzinto Business Sector Committee (UBSC) was held last Wednesday. The meeting, chaired by Roy Singh, was considered fruitful and productive by all who attended. Many pressing issues were discussed with safety, security and assisting businesses being given priority.

M Ally and AR Kadwa spoke about security and will formalise a proposal to implement security measures in collaboration with Saps, RTI, informal traders and other roleplayers. The safety and security sub-committee has Ally as convener and a team made up of AR Kadwa, Suvarna Ramdas, Lawrence Sibisi and William Mlawuyi.

The business welfare sub-committee will be convened by Nitha Harripersadh and a team made up of Ayoob Amla, Adam Ally, Shaheen Belim and Cecilia Dlamini.

The UBSC is engaged with all business sectors to assess needs and assistance required. Businesses are urged to complete the business registration form and hand in or email to Himal Gangaram (committee secretary) on umzintobuz@gmail.com.

Going forward, the UBSC will engage with all roleplayers to be able to assist each other in rebuilding Umzinto. For more information or to get in touch with the UBSC, contact Adam Ally (PRO) on 076 2490300 or Nitha Harripersadh (business convener) on 073 1518538.
