Margate cops make drug bust
The public was encouraged to use the WhatsApp number: 0824177784 to anonymously report drug related cases.
Two men, aged 30 and 31, were arrested for being in possession of drugs near Margate Pavilion Centre last Sunday.
The arrest was done by the Margate Joint Operation Centre members who were busy conducting a stop-and-search in Margate CBD.
The men were arrested and charged for possession and dealing in drugs.
They were detained in Margate Saps custody. The drugs were confiscated by police.
The two appeared at the Ramsgate Magistrate’s Court on Monday this week.
The case was postponed to December 15, 2021. They were granted R3000 bail each and are still in custody.
Margate Saps station commander, Brigadier William Slabbert commended the members for the arrests and for ensuring that drug peddlers are targeted.
He further thanked the public for the co-operation, and encouraged the ongoing use of WhatsApp number at 0824177784 to anonymously report drug related cases.
