Something slithery at Margate Primary

Learners were able to touch a variety of snakes, both harmless and venomous.

There was great excitement at Margate Primary School last week when the foundation phase was treated to a ‘talk and feel’ session.

The session was conducted by Terrance Whittle and his assistant Aphiwe from Pure Venom, who were brought to the school by Netcare Hospital to observe World Trauma Day.

Learners were able to touch a variety of snakes, both harmless and venomous.

The highlight of the session was when a number of learners had to hold a very heavy python.

The school extends its sincere thanks to Netcare Hospital for arranging the event.

Sport has begun for all grades and learners are encouraged to attend extra-curricular activities.

The school also appeals on behalf of the Lions Club for toy donations, to hand out to underprivileged children.

Bikers will arrive at school on November 8 and 9 to collect the toys and to give some lucky learners a ride on the bikes.
