Delivery driver flung off scooter after hitting pothole

It was a close call for the driver and another example of how our roads are in need of repair.

The perils of potholes on South Coast roads has come to the fore again, when a delivery driver was perhaps fortunate not to be more seriously injured.

Netcare 911 responded to a collision on Marine Drive in Lawrence Rocks, Ramsgate yesterday afternoon, at about 14:30. “Reports indicate that a delivery man lost control of his scooter after hitting a pothole,” said spokesman Shawn Herbst.

The patient, an adult male in his thirties, had sustained minor injuries after being flung over the handle bars. The patient was treated on scene and once stabilised was transported by ambulance to hospital for further care.
