Brothers sentenced for grandmother’s rape

A rape and robbery case against three Dududu men has finally drawn to a close.
While the first accused, Zamokuhle Siyabonga Zwane (30) was convicted and sentenced on December 4, 2018, his brother, Bongumusa Yaka Zwane (25) and accomplice Sphamandla Ncokwane (27) were convicted and sentenced in the Scottburgh Regional Court recently.
All three men were sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment for the rape and a further 15 years’ imprisonment for house robbery.
On May 23, 2017 a grandmother was asleep with her grandchildren at her home in Kwajoni area in Dududu when three unknown men broke into her house.
They threatened her with a bush knife and took a meagre amount of cash. They then, raped her.
Dududu detectives traced the suspects to Umzinto where all three were eventually arrested.
The investigating officer in the case was Detective Sergeant Sandile Mpanza of Dududu Detective Service.
