Two sixteen-year-olds were among four people arrested in connection with a housebreaking case.
The teens and two others, aged 20 and 33, will appear in court shortly.
Members of Saps Hibberdene Crime Prevention were on patrol last Sunday afternoon when they received information about a housebreaking case where a cellphone and speakers were stolen in the Makhoso area on November 19.
They acted immediately and arrested a person for housebreaking and theft.
Further investigation led to the arrest of three others, including a woman (20).
The woman was charged for possession of an unlicensed firearm and cash stolen from a house robbery in the Mfazazane area in October.
Ugu Saps District communications said some of the stolen goods had been sold, and investigations are proceeding.
Ugu District Commissioner, Major General Sethenya Nxamagele, is pleased with the arrests as police clamp down on crime in Hibberdene. She also thanked the community for reporting criminal activities that led to these arrests.
She warned:
* The public is warned against purchasing stolen goods. Those found in possession of suspected stolen goods will face prosecution.
* Buying stolen goods creates a market for criminals to further their trade; therefore, reject and report it.
* If the community does apprehend a person suspected of a crime, they must contact the police immediately to arrest and detain him. Do not resort to vigilantism.
