The body of the man was recovered by police divers a week ago.
Craig Lambinon, spokesperson of National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI), said the NSRI Port Edward duty crew were activated after eyewitness reports of a body adrift offshore of Mzamba River mouth.
The NSRI rescue craft JetRib Spirit of Surf Ski 7 was launched, accompanied by Police K9 Search and Rescue divers.
The body was recovered by police divers.
Lambinon said that the body is suspected to be of a man who went missing at Margate Pier on November 16; however, formal identification by family is in progress.
