The suburb of Sea Park was struck by another wave of crime.
It’s alleged that a woman driver (59) parked on the R102 main road near a supermarket in Sea Park last Thursday, while her daughters went to a nearby shop.
Saps Ugu District Communication said it’s further alleged that the driver saw an unknown vehicle with a woman passenger stop behind her, and an unknown man carrying a panga approached her vehicle.
The woman’s daughters jumped into the car and locked the doors.
The suspect jumped into his vehicle and sped away.
A case of attempted car hijacking was opened for investigation at Saps Southport.
Also, Lazer 911 reaction units responded to two separate incidents.
In the first call out, an intruder had entered a premises in King Street in Sea Park last Saturday.
On arrival at the house, the security officers made contact with the young women staying at the house.
Robbie Pypers, operations manager of Lazer 911, said it appeared the intruder had entered through the back door, there was no forced entry as the door was possibly unlocked.
Nothing was taken, but the women described the man wearing black clothing.
“We patrolled the area and later got alerted to a break-in Shepstone Road in Sea Park.”
Pypers said a resident had been attacked in his home.
“On arrival, the resident was found to be bleeding from his head as he had fought the intruder for his laptop.”
While on patrol, a Lazer 911 officer saw a man fitting the description walking on the R102 towards Southport.
A police vehicle was flagged down and they stopped the man.
“The man wasn’t carrying a laptop, but there was blood stains on his tekkies and shirt. He was taken into custody for further investigation,” confirmed Pypers.
Saps Ugu District Communication confirmed that a case of burglary was opened. The laptop and two cellphones were stolen.
