Woman caught in drug bust in Umkomaas
There have been several drug-related arrests made in the area recently.
A woman was arrested, and Zanex tablets, CAT and crystal meth were seized by police in an intelligence-driven operation in Umkomaas last Wednesday.
The operation was conducted at a residence by Counter Narcotics KZN, Umkomaas Saps and the Provincial Drug and Firearm Unit
The woman faces charges for dealing in drugs and contravention of the Medicines Control Act.
The investigating officer in the case, Detective Warrant Officer Anthony Naidoo, said she will appear in the Scottburgh Magistrate’s Court soon.
According to Umkomaas Saps spokesperson, Captain Ranjith Rampersad, police remain steadfast in its mandate to combat drugs.
“Our members are commended for their vigilance and their proactive measures in the fight against crime,” he said.
“In a separate case, four suspects were recently arrested for drug-related offences, also in Umkomaas. We are empowered to protect and serve and we shall execute that responsibility without fear or favour.”
The acting station commander, Lt Colonel John Ngema, applauded all role players for their excellent execution of duties.
“Every effort will be made to combat crime through decisive police action,” he added.
