Scottburgh court puts repeat offender behind bars

Investigations were carried out by Detective Warrant Officer SV Naidoo of Umkomaas Detective Service.

Juan Pierre Henning (42) has been sentenced to six years’ imprisonment after committing a second count of theft while out on warning.

According to Umkomaas Saps, on March 30 this year a case of theft was reported in the Umkomaas policing precinct. Henning stole items to the value of R3000. The case was investigated by Detective Sergeant Prishan Maharaj who arrested Henning, and police were able to recover the goods.

When Henning appeared in the Scottburgh Magistrate’s Court, the investigating officer opposed bail, and the accused was released on warning.

A few months later on May 5, the accused booked into a lodge in the area. He stole a TV and a toaster to the value of R2900.

Investigations were carried out by Detective Warrant Officer SV Naidoo of Umkomaas Detective Service, which linked Henning to the crime, leading to his arrest once again.

His sentencing was last week, and detectives have been praised by Umkomaas Saps for their excellent work.
