SPCA seizes animals kept in poor living conditions
A warrant was obtained by Inspector Jacob Maduna to gain access to the property.
The Lower South Coast (LSC) SPCA recently opened a case with the police, after several dogs and animals were allegedly abandoned and living in compromised conditions on a property in Marburg.
The owner of the animals will be charged under the Animal Protection Act 71 of 1962.
LSC SPCA operations supervisor, Mike Davis received a complaint regarding animals living in shocking conditions on April 27.
A warrant was obtained by Inspector Jacob Maduna and the LSC SPCA inspectorate team proceeded to the property in question.
On arrival, the animals were found living in appalling conditions resulting in all of them being seized and brought to the SPCA for safe keeping.
Davis said the animals were given immediate veterinary care and are presently doing well.
“The LSC SPCA appreciates and needs the assistance of the community to report animal cruelty,” he said.
He said that when reporting a case of cruelty, as much information and evidence must be provided, to assist the inspectorate in carrying out an investigation.
