SPCA staff prepare to walk for new wheels

Two of the SPCA's vehicles are desperately needing to be replaced.

Support Mike Davis and his team from the SPCA as they embark on their ‘Every Step Counts’ walk on Wednesday, March 20 at 06:00.

Staff of the Lower South Coast SPCA are walking from the Uvongo premises to Port Edward along the R61, to raise funds to purchase new vehicles.

Davis, manager of the SPCA, has pledged to walk the 30.6km route, along with 15 supportive staff members.

“This walk highlights that if we don’t have wheels to get to the animals in need, we are prepared to walk for them. The walk is a one day mission with the aim to raise money to purchase a new vehicle,” said Davis.

He explained that two of their four vehicles desperately need to be replaced.

“Our vehicles have over 300 000km on the clock. These vehicles work 24 hours a day travelling into rural areas and on bad roads, and are the lifeline to animals in distress.”

The community and businesses are encouraged to support the event, and sponsor every kilometre walked on the day.
