WEATHER WARNING: Damaging waves expected in KZN today (Aug 28)

It is believed that beaches between Port Edward and Durban will be affected.

Damaging waves are expected along the KZN coastline this afternoon from about 14:00 to 23:00 due to a passing cold front.

Wave heights of 4.0 to 6.0 meters are expected between Port Edward and Durban.

The public is requested to avoid coastal areas and beaches during the warning period, follow evacuation instructions from local authorities and monitor weather updates and warnings.

In the interim, people can secure homes and belongings, avoid going out to sea if you’re a small boat owner and stay away from the water if you’re a beachgoer.

Damaging waves of this calibre may cause coastal erosion and flooding, difficulties for marine activities and coastal travel as well as increased risk of rip currents and rough seas.
