Woman author awarded for empowering men
The book is aimed at creating awareness and providing inspiration to those who can relate to male children’s journeys to adulthood.
KZN’s Nonkululeko Madondo (Dr Angiyukweswela) recently received two awards for her new book ‘The King In You‘ which empowers men.
Madondo, who is also a well-known businesswoman, marriage therapist, plus-size influencer/model, community activist, philanthropist and aspiring actress, has worked in Scottburgh and Umzinto through her non-profit Angiyukweswela Therapy Foundation, which advocates for gender equality and men’s mental health.
Similarly to her NPO, the book is aimed at creating awareness and providing inspiration to those who can relate to male children’s journeys to adulthood.
In less than a year of its release, her book gained recognition, and on November 9, she received the Best Awareness Book and Best Book Cover titles at The Book Behind Awards in Pietermaritzburg.
“It was so exciting and emotional since it’s my first book, and I am so grateful to the people who voted for me and supported me, as well as my family and friends” said the author.
She described the awards function as ‘humbling’ because she had the opportunity to meet other talented South Africans, such as Dr Otty Nxumalo and Indlovukazi Mapule.
“My book shows how men navigate through the journey from childhood to manhood and the challenges and heartaches faced while on this journey” explained Madondo.
“It serves as a compass, guiding them through life’s ups and downs, empowering them to face challenges and unveil every hidden royalty in every man.”
“I call this book an injection because I firmly support the notion that prevention is superior to cure.”
