Spread love, donate blood this Valentine’s

Visit your nearest SANBS blood donation centre or mobile blood drive to donate blood.

The South African National Blood Service (SANBS) is urging the public to spread love and kindness by donating blood this Valentine’s Day.

February is the perfect time to go beyond traditional gestures and make a lasting impact by giving the gift of life to those in need.

SANBS marketing, communication, and brand manager Thandi Mosupye said Valentine’s Day celebrates love, compassion, and care for others.

“What better way to embody these values than by helping your community? Every day, countless patients across the country rely on the generosity of blood donors for life-saving treatments, emergency care and surgeries. A single blood donation can save up to three lives, making your contribution a powerful way to show how much you care,” she said.

Mosupye said: “Visit your nearest SANBS blood donation centre or mobile blood drive to donate blood. The process is quick, simple, and safe.”

She described donating blood as a simple yet profound act of love and kindness that ensures hospitals across South Africa have the life-saving resources they need.

“As we celebrate Valentine’s Day, it’s an opportunity to reflect on how we can extend our love beyond our immediate circles and make a difference in the lives of others,” she said.

She added that members of the public can get involved by hosting blood drives in their communities, workplaces or schools.

“Together, we can save lives and uplift our communities,” she said.
