WEATHER ALERT: Level 5 warning issued for KZN South Coast [WATCH]

In the last five hours or so, parts of the coast have experienced consistent and heavy rainfall.

The South Coast has been hit by a second wave of heavy rain this week.

Heavy rain hit the South Coast, in particular the Port Shepstone area, late on Tuesday night, with flooding in certain areas.

Earlier today (March 2), the South African Weather Service upgraded the weather warning to a Level 5 for areas including the Ray Nkonyeni, Umzumbe and Umdoni municipalities – with the potential to cause flooding to roads and settlements.

The warning says that widespread showers and thundershowers are expected over the southern and western parts of KZN.

In the last five hours or so, parts of the coast have experienced consistent and heavy rainfall.

So far reported:

  • Trees have been uprooted in Sunwich Port.
  • Roads in Southport flooded.
  • Mbango bridge is flooded.
  • The Chestnut bridge in Marburg is flooded.
