Umzinto rapist gets 12 years

He remained in police custody throughout his trial.

Siyabonga Danini (26) was found guilty of rape and was sentenced to 12 years’ imprisonment in the Scottburgh Regional Court recently.

At the time of the incident, a woman (20), sleeping over at her friend’s house at Mbetheni, found Danini on top of her and screamed for help.

Danini was arrested by community members and handed over to police.

A case of rape was reported at Saps Umzinto.

He remained in police custody throughout his trial. He was also found unfit to possess a firearm.

Detective Sergeant Sindisiwe Mkize of FCS Port Shepstone was the investigating officer in the case.
