History made on World Radio Day

It was the first time competing and community stations collaborated.

South Africans witnessed history this month as a celebration in honour of World Radio Day united multiple radio stations.

Radio reps from various parts of Durban came together for Games Night, making it the first time competing and community stations collaborated.

The initiative was hosted by Karma Sutra Empire – marketing agency for Underground Radio, which brought the idea to life.

Everyone gathered at Durban’s Olive Convention Centre, and the evening was filled with laughter, connection, and friendly competition as leading stations stepped away from rivalry and into unity.

Stations in attendance included Ukhozi FM, Umlazi FM, Vibe FM, Eita Radio, Underground Radio, Southside FM and Mystery Radio.

This event served as a reminder that radio remains one of the most influential mediums – entertaining, informative and connecting communities,
