The second week of Cuatro 2026 took place last Sunday with some tight games but no real upsets. Games were held at Umtentweni and Southbroom tennis clubs.
Some of the region’s top players were away at nationals, namely Martyn Nagtegaal, Ian Ackerman, Raj Naganna, Cathy Kirton and Sharon van der Schyff.
These are being played in Gauteng East at three venues, namely Parkrand Tennis Complex, Gauteng East Tennis Headquarters and Atlasville Tennis Club.
The South Coasters are all playing at Parkrand Tennis Complex.
Johan van Niekerk was due to play for South Africa in the Britannia Cup in Turkey but it was cancelled for safety reasons due to recent ongoings in the Middle East.

Men’s singles:
Mick Taute beat Guy Spittal 6-1, 6-1.
Brendan Els beat Naren Sunker 6-1, 6-1.
Men’s doubles:
Bjorn Wikstrom/Brendan Els beat Guy Spittal/Bernie Kruger 6-0, 6-0.
Stef Francesconi/Daniel Francesconi vs Frank Hall/Philip Schaffler 6-0, 6-2.
Ladies doubles:
Renee Purtell/Deanne Purtell-Massyn beat Claire Laine/Nita Butler 7-5, 6-3.
Mixed doubles:
Mick Taute/Liesl Smith beat Brendan Els/Katie Weller 6-3, 6-1.
Daniel Francesconi/Deanne Purtell-Massyn beat Lomon Rautenbach/Renee Purtell 6-4, 6-1.
