Laughter and learning on Pi Day at Umdoni Christian Academy

Learners took part in a range of fun activities throughout the day.

Learners and teachers at Umdoni Christian Academy recently came together to celebrate Pi Day, turning an ordinary school day into a lively event filled with games, laughter and plenty of memorable moments.

Pi Day, celebrated around the world on March 14, recognises the mathematical constant pi, which begins with the numbers 3.14. While the day is often used to highlight mathematics, at UCA it also became an opportunity for students and staff to enjoy time together and strengthen the sense of community within the school.

Students took part in a range of fun activities throughout the day. The school grounds were filled with energy as learners moved between different games and challenges, each designed to bring a little bit of excitement and friendly competition.

Among the activities were hula hoop challenges that quickly drew enthusiastic participation from learners across different grades.

Other games added to the festive atmosphere and encouraged teamwork. Teachers joined in the spirit of the event, helping to organise the activities and keeping the excitement going as the day unfolded.

While the games were a big part of the celebration, the moment many students were waiting for came later in the day. One of the most anticipated activities was the cream pie challenge, where several brave teachers volunteered to take part in what quickly became the highlight of the event.

In front of a crowd of excited learners, the teachers stepped forward to face a barrage of cream pies thrown by students. Each pie was met with loud cheers and laughter from the crowd as the teachers took the messy challenge in good humour.

For many students, it was a rare opportunity to see their teachers step out of the classroom setting and share in the fun.
