Many hands make Saints Walk safe

A small but vital bridge on Saints Walk gets a new lease on life - thanks to a swift and generous community effort.

There’s something special about the small structures that quietly serve a community day after day.

One of the little bridges along Saints Walk has done just that for 13 years – but recently its planks began to rot, making it unsafe.

Ivungu River Conservancy chairperson, Bill Davis, flagged the issue while monitoring the pathway, and the response was immediate and inspiring!

The wonderful team from Tidy Towns Shelly to Margate, stepped in to lead the project.

Lending helping hands are Reg Horne and Jan de Beer of Tidy Towns Shelly to Margate.

Sure Joy Timbers generously donated the timber, and Doug’s Hardware supplied the stainless steel screws.

Within just a couple of days, a brand new bridge was in place.

The Ivungu River Conservancy gave a heartfelt thank you to everyone involved – a wonderful example of community care in action, helping keep Saints Walk safe and accessible for all.
