Doug Aub should be an example to others

DEAR Editor,-

We are sometimes so involved in our daily lives, looking out for when the next thing will go wrong, that we sometimes forget to stand back and acknowledge what others do to simplify our daily tasks and lives.

I was totally lost for words when I visited Doug’s Hardware in Manaba.

I was greeted with a warm atmosphere and found a happy family business, run by Doug Aub, his wife, children and grandchildren. Everybody was busy with helping and advising customers.

I wanted to change locks and not being a handy man, I was taken through everything I would need for the job.

Doug even gave me a crash course in how to use a ‘pop rivet’ gun,which he loaned so I could do the job.

After completing the job I returned to the shop to have extra keys cut and return the tool.

Maybe other businesses should take a leaf out of Doug’s book on how to run a business with all family values in place.
