‘Let us know if you get a response’

We asked some of the general public to test Ugu's system to see if it actually works and it doesn't.

DEAR Editor,-

I have once again, like every week, gotten hold of the Herald this morning and again I see people complaining about our lovely towns on the South Coast.

As a business owner, we all see how things are going backwards and just like everyone else, we try to give a little back to the community to better our towns and roads. We are not a construction or engineering company and merely a website development company and thus our best trading is done online.

As we all know, most of us spend at least five minutes or more a day on the internet and therefore our company KZNweb (Pty) Ltd has come up with a reporting system for the community from Port Edward to Hibberdene.

Since development, we have already seen and proposed this reporting system to, best of all, Ugu as part of a sponsorship programme to better the community. There would have been no charge for the system.

All Ugu was required to do is compile a list of the responsible individuals for each section of public service and add the system onto their advertisement campaign to inform the general public about there now being a system in place.

To date we have not had any feedback, but recently noticed that Ugu upgraded its website and added a section for the general public to talk to municipal manager, DD Naidoo. Check out (https://www.ugu.gov.za/MM-Blog.aspx). Great, we thought, and as per our norm, we asked some of the general public to test Ugu’s system to see if it actually works. What a surprise … it doesn’t!

Not one post has received a reply. Go ahead and ask the municipal manager a question on the system and let us know if he comes back to you as the editor and the voice of the public. Surely he will respond to you? Also, when visiting the new ‘talk to the municipal manager’ facility, please take some time to read some of the requests, you will surely be shocked!
