DEAR Editor,-
I am in the real estate industry employed at Re/max Coast and Country, Port Shepstone, and recently received a property enquiry from a man by the name of Louis van Wyk, whom I subsequently followed up with a few days later.
Mr van Wyk used to work at Umzimkulu Lime in the late 1980s and visited the area again a couple of weeks ago with a view to acquiring property.
I asked him if I could email him some more properties along the lines of what he was looking for, but instead he gave me permission to submit his response to The Herald with regards to the state of the South Coast, for publication in the letters to the editor section.
His response to me was “Dear Kim, I have changed my mind totally about the South Coast because it looks like the town council is not maintaining roads or anything. I left Port Shepstone in 1990 and when I visited two weeks ago, I expected to at least see an upkeep of what there was 23 years ago.
On the contrary, the South Coast did stand still, with no or very little development and existing features have not been taken care of or upgraded by the council. I am very disappointed. I also had to replace two wheels on the Avis rental car, which tells me a lot about the roads. Thanks, but no thanks for the South Coast. Regards, Louis van Wyk.”
