OPINION: ‘Umdoni petitioned to provide services’

It is difficult for residents to access their homes in wet weather or when the roads are not maintained.

DEAR Editor:

As a councillor and long-term resident of ward 14 in Amandawe, I have noted the challenges faced by residents regarding the condition of our roads.

My site inspections and engagements with residents have revealed that Gumede, Mphemba, Victor, Myeza, Majola, Mashlashana, Mbambo, Magenda and Shange roads all need regravelling.

The steep sections on these roads need to be paved with concrete. It is difficult for residents to access their homes in wet weather or when the roads are not maintained.

To promote the need for these services I have compiled a petition to be served on Umdoni asking for this work to be done.

I have already collected 139 signatures from residents and I encourage others to add their voices to this call for basic infrastructure.

Residents of ward 14 can contact me at 073-1864274 and I will call on their homes to obtain their signatures on the petition.

I would appreciate the cooperation of all residents of ward 14 in requesting Umdoni to deliver the services we urgently need.
