For some time now the dangerous road conditions with potholes and/or craters lurking have been evident to most South Coasters.
I feel it necessary however to warn unsuspecting motorists of these, especially those unfamiliar with this area.
Travelling north to south along the R102 towards Umtentweni, almost at the end of the bridge between Sunwich Port and Anerley, there are two vicious holes.
If these are not repaired properly very soon, they might result in burst tyres or worse, a horrific accident, especially after dark.
Both my husband and I have witnessed motorists swerving at the last minute to avoid them, and we have done the same.
The largest hole is almost in the centre of the road, next to the solid white line, with the other on the extreme left.
Swerve to the left too hard in an attempt to avoid the large one, you will hit the small one or the end of the bridge.
Swerve to the right – you pray there is no oncoming traffic. To avoid them both, drive at slow speed on the extreme left of the road at the bridge end, almost against the brush.In doing so you will just manage to avoid the pothole on the left.
