OPINION: ‘Holt-Biddle’s wait is hard to beat’

Likewise, a friend in Johannesburg reports getting a Christmas present in March, slit open, marked “Repaired by SAPO” but missing a cashmere scarf.

DEAR Editor;

While I cannot surpass the one-year delay in postal delivery reported by David Holt-Biddle (Herald, 19 March), I can say that the most recent editions received of two UK monthly journals I subscribe to are for July 2020.

A colleague in Durban who subscribes to one of these journals has cancelled his subscription owing to non-delivery.

Likewise, a friend in Johannesburg reports getting a Christmas present in March, slit open, marked “Repaired by SAPO” but missing a cashmere scarf.

Now the SAPO are trying to get business by law rather than by service, in trying to revive the old monopoly they enjoyed on parcels of less than 1kg in weight; I hope that wiser counsels will point out the “disaster” of e-tolls, which sufficient people refused to pay to make the system untenable.
