OPINION: ‘Remember your parents in their old age’

These are crazy times that we are living in.

DEAR Editor;

It is with sadness that I read about the murders of elderly residents here on the South Coast.

I have since noticed that there are families (children, aunts and uncles) who leave their older family members alone in a house that is not secure or has no security.

Older people are naïve in thinking that they are safe.

Please families, look after your elderly parents or organise a safe living space for them.

Our older residents are not strong enough to defend themselves against intruders and criminals.

These are crazy times that we are living in.

Where is the love?

Where is the understanding?

Where is the physical support for the older generation?

A telephone call is not enough.
