OPINION: ‘Interchange upgrade seems a waste of funds’

It seems a waste of funds and seems to me to be a short term job creation project for political vote gain.

DEAR Editor;

The report about the huge expenditure on the Kokstad N2 interchange has puzzled me.

I have to ask why government is spending this money on a simple road intersection and office block construction in a small town that, according to the government, should be bypassed soon, once the lauded new N2 toll road from Port Shepstone to Mthatha is complete.

I appreciate the intersecting roads are a headache but why this huge project for what will become quieter roads?

It seems a waste of funds and seems to me to be a short term job creation project for political vote gain.
