DEAR Editor;
With the price of fuel as high as it is at the moment, this is perhaps the time to reintroduce lift clubs, if only two share a route.
Fifty percent of the travelling costs could be saved, not to mention wear and tear on a vehicle, less traffic at peak hours and easier parking.
Even if you have to go a block or two out of your normal way, you will save big time.
Even those not working could share a shopping trip.
The average car in heavy traffic could use 10 litres per 100km.
Do the maths, that’s R19 per litre. For perhaps a small inconvenience, what a saving it is.
It worked for my wife and her co-workers in times gone by, and maybe it can work for you too.
HAL LEIGH
