OPINION: ‘Fuel price affects citizens’

Salaries are still the same, so what is one expected to cut back on, when many are already eking out a living.

DEAR Editor;

With yet another astronomical fuel price increase, how are ordinary South Africans expected to cope financially.

It was a bit of a shock filling up my car yesterday, as the petrol price is one cent short of R21. It now means, yet again, the cost of food, public transport that millions rely on, and pretty much everything else goes up too.

How is one expected to keep up with the increases? Salaries are still the same, so what is one expected to cut back on, when many are already eking out a living.

While vehicle owners can carpool, as it might save on overall costs in the long run, but what about those who use public transport to and from work or to run errands.
