OPINION: Home Affairs’ Kwanele deserves special praise

She is wished a successful future.

A few weeks ago, we visited the offices of the Department of Home Affairs.

Apart from the unfriendly young man at the entrance and the very abrupt (to the point of rudeness) man at the reception desk, it was surprisingly stress-free.

The queues were long but moved quickly and orderly, and the clerical staff polite and efficient.

Being elderly and slightly disabled, I was given the appropriate consideration. Kudos to the supervisor concerned.

One woman by the name of Kwanele Mkhize deserves special mention. I erroneously referred to her as Khanyisile; she was indeed a shining example of how a public servant should behave.

She was helpful, friendly and caring. She happily went the extra mile, for which we are so grateful. She is, without doubt, a tremendous asset to the Department of Home Affairs.

We wish her a successful future, which she so rightly deserves.

Siyabonga Kwanele. Inkosi Ikubusise.
