Bronwyn Tanner – Tuning In: Join Pennington’s recycling initiative

Community news and events for the mid-South Coast area.

A recycling initiative is currently taking place at Relton Hall at the Village Green in Pennington.

Everyone is asked to help by sorting the recyclables into the following groups (small bags can be used for each type):
• Cardboard – must be flattened and tied together.
• Paper – magazines, newspaper, books, paper delivery bags.
• Clear plastic – water or cooldrink bottles, clear rigid fruit packaging.
• Coloured plastic – detergent bottles and lids, yoghurt containers and lids, milk bottles.
• Soft plastics – bread bags, shopping bags, soft packaging, wrapping, etc.
• Glass bottles and jars (no window panes or crockery).
• Bottle tops – only from drinkable items – cooldrink, milk, juice, bottled water (keep them in a bag until its full).
• Tetrapak – rinsed and flattened (liquifruit, long life milk).
• Tin cans – food.
• Aluminium cans (drinks).

This is the only way recycling depots will accept recycling material.

Strictly no polystyrene. In order to make it viable for recycling to continue in Pennington, please bring all your recyclable materials on Wednesdays between 09:00 and 10:00 – not before 09:00.

Osisibethemba – Sisters of Hope – works with the rape crisis centre at GJ Crookes Hospital in Scottburgh to bless the less fortunate with clothes, toys, blankets, sweets and snacks, hygiene products (general toiletries and feminine hygiene products, etc.).
