Festival for jazz lovers
The founder of the event, Thabani Mzindle said the jazz session will be held at Zuri Beach in Margate.
It is not all doom and gloom for jazz lovers on the South Coast. Organisers of the South Coast Soul Session meets Jazz Lovers have planned an event for June 25 in Margate.
The event will see well-known musicians such as Tender Mavundla, Msheddys, Afrika Cele, Vusi Sifunda and the band sharing the stage.
The founder of the event, Thabani Mzindle said the jazz session will be held at Zuri Beach in Margate.
Mzindle said the event is aimed at reviving jazz music on the South Coast, to also keep arts alive and show love to jazz fans who have felt neglected.
The annual Ugu Jazz Festival which was powered by Ugu District Municipality and was generally held in June has not been held since the Covid-19 pandemic began.
Mzindle said the goal of the event is to give local artists a platform to showcase their talent, promote local brands, allow festival attendees to taste a variety of food, to give a platform and encourage the discovery of local upcoming artists.
“The South Coast Soul Session is a unique lifestyle event, a tourist attraction, and a social interaction event that gathers friends, families, tourists, and music lovers who have similar interests in listening to the same music sound. There are other art forms that are part of the event such as indigenous games, exhibitions, food stalls, music workshops, and fashion,” said Mzindle.
He added that they are on a mission to create sustainable jobs for mostly women and the youth, adding that they also aim to make the South Coast soul session event an annual event that will get national and international recognition.
Mzindle said the event will start at 1pm, adding that other artists billed to perform include the Estadio Band, KG, Sgede, Themba Ncama, and Noncedo.
