Track Torque: Leclerc cleans up in Austria
Schumacher now has 12 points in the championship.
Charles Leclerc drove very well in the main grand prix to win the Austrian Grand Prix from Max Verstappen, although the latter did win the sprint race with Leclerc second and Carlos Sainz third.
This means that Verstappen was not far behind in points as he also earned an extra point in the main race.
The points position is 208 for Verstappen, 170 for Leclerc, 151 for Perez, 133 for Sainz and 128 for Russell.
The manufacturers points is Red Bull 359, Ferrari 303 and Mercedes 237.
Sainz was again unlucky not to finish the race when his Ferrari caught fire when he was in second place.
Lewis Hamilton did well in his improved Mercedes to come home third, just for the record, this gives him 186 podiums in his career.
Teammate George Russell also did well to finish fourth in the sister Mercedes.
Esteban Ocon was fifth in his Alpine Renault, closely followed by much improved Mick Shumacher in sixth place.
Schumacher now has 12 points in the championship, all earned in two weeks.
Lando Norris was seventh, Magnussen in the other Haas Ferrari eighth and teammate in the Mclaren, Daniel Ricciardo ninth with Fernando Alonso in the last point scoring position in tenth place.
Ferrari now have to make a determined effort to catch up with Red Bull and Verstappen, if Leclerc is to have a chance in this year’s world championship.
The next race is in at Paul Recard in France on July 24.
