Big welcome home for Miss Supranational

The pageant was on July 15.

Newly crowned Miss Supranational and reigning Miss South Africa, Lalela Mswane was recently welcomed home by delighted fans at OR Tambo International Airport.

She left the country in June, to prepare for and participate in the pageant.

Mswane was crowned Miss Supranational on July 15, flying the South African flag high, taking over the title from Namibia’s Chanique Rabe.

Addressing the media on her arrival on Friday, 29 July Mswane said: “Being in Poland for the past fortnight, ahead of my return to Johannesburg, gave me a chance to let everything sink in. I am grateful and share the crown with everyone in this country.”

Mswane is the first black woman to win the title, Miss Supranational and said: “What a time to be alive. It’s been a big week for women following the Banyana Banyana win and the return home. I am filled with national pride.

“I have never been happier to see taxis. I’m excited to be a part of the chaos in traffic again. “I’m just happy, I’m very excited to be back, she concluded.”
