Actor bags role on The River
The former Galeni High School pupil said he was mostly excited to work with Tshedza Pictures because it has one of the best directors.
Actor Siphesihle Cele said in the acting industry, it is every hustler for themselves, adding that no one can just give you an acting role.
Cele was speaking to the Fever after he recently bagged a role on 1Magic’s telenovela, The River. Cele who plays Ntuthuko Hlophe said he was very excited and humbled to find out that he will be working with production house, Tshedza Pictures.
He described Ntuthuko Hlophe as the hot-headed younger brother of Bukhosini. He added that as Siphesihle Cele he relates a lot to Ntuthuko who is well-known as Bra Ntuks in the telenovela.
“He is what we call in my hood ‘uKhandashisa’ (a hot head), akakhathalele ukuthenjwa (he does not care what anyone thinks or says about him),” said Cele. He added that he had to audition for the role.
The former Galeni High School pupil said he was mostly excited to work with Tshedza Pictures because it has one of the best directors.
Originally from Gamalakhe, Cele said his love for acting started when he got to perform for the first time at Sethembinkosi Junior Primary School.
“I was five or six years old and we were doing what we called ‘Iskeshi’, it was a Biblical story and I played the character of King Herod,” said Cele.
He added that his goals in his career include being the best at what he does, passing on his knowledge and skills, and also getting paid lots of money.
“All I want is money. But I must add, no one can just give you an acting role. I was fortunate enough that I have bagged roles on Uzalo, Durban Gen, UKhozi FM, and a lot of professional theatre shows. I even have a short film on Mzansi Magic, I also have a lot of industry friends and colleagues but I must emphasise no-one will just give you an acting job, it is every hustler for themselves and it is hard,” said Cele.
