Poen wins Mug at Margate

Judging by the high number of two-clubs, there's been some crisp iron play.

The Monthly Medal at Margate Country Club last Saturday was won by Poen Olivier on nett 80, off his six handicap.

B division honours went to Graeme Massam and Johann Erasmus, both on 82 gross, nett 69.

The C division played Stableford and was won by Des Pots on 41 points, with Chippy Louw next on 38 points.

Nearest the pin was Poen Olivier (16th).

Two-clubs were carded by John Ford (16th), Wayne Minnaar (11th), Craig Rademan (4th) and Chippy Louw (16th).

The 100-Club last Tuesday was won by Angus McLachlan and Kevin Oxenham, followed by Joe Espach and Johann Erasmus.

Two-clubs were carded by Eddy Roux (11th) and Angus McLachlan (4th).

The Club Meat competition last Thursday was won by Kim Howden on 42 points, by two from Kevin Oxenham on 40 points.

Two-clubs were made by Carlos Pereira (4th and 11th), Frik van Zyl (4th), Kevin Oxenham (11th).

Nearest the the pins were Frik van Zyl (4th) and Kevin Oxenham (11th).

In the ladies section, the Combined Stableford last Tuesday was won by Cathy Meyer and Sandi Johnston on 68 points.

Runners-up on 66 points were Dawn Howden and Wondra Bothma.

Two-clubs were carded by Maureen Ogilvie (2nd), Cathy Meyer (11th), Dawn Howden (2nd).

The Saturday competition was played as a Stableford with a Sandi Twist.

It was won by Wondra Bothma on 83 points, with Sandi Johnston next on 60 points, on a countout from Grace Fourie.

The Wobblers’ competition last Wednesday was won by Colin Penny, Johan Human and Marcus Donovan on 82 points.

Runners-up were Jack Kukard, Eddie Gomersall and Thys Bothma on 81 points.

In third place was Nico van Vuuren’s fourball on 73 points.

The Arthur Tomlinson Floater went to Dave Morrison, Danie Brummer and Freddie Boshoff on 66 points.

Two-clubs were chalked up by Jack Kukard (16th) and Marcus Donovan (4th).

Nearest the pin was Dave Morrison (2nd).
