Women’s voices central in upcoming stage production
The play reflects on the post-Covid reality and the lasting impact it has had on creatives emotionally, economically and socially.
Madulini Pictures, a media production company, headed by creative theatre practitioner and producer Colleca Madulini from Qombe in Gcilima outside Port Shepstone, is currently working on a stage production, Behind Her Mic.
The production will be staged at the Tropical Nites Theatre at the Wild Coast Casino on March 6 at 18:00 and March 7 at 15:00.
Madulini described Behind Her Mic as a socially conscious theatre production that centres around women’s voices while speaking to the broader community and artists at large.

She added the play reflects on the post-Covid reality and the lasting impact it has had on creatives emotionally, economically and socially. “Through powerful storytelling, the production highlights resilience, survival and the urgent need for support, recognition and safe platforms for artists to be seen, heard and valued within their communities.”
Madulini is seeking support because independent productions, especially those produced outside major urban centres, do need credible promotion as this often determines whether sponsors and partners are willing to come on board.

“The promotion and marketing of Behind Her Mic helps communicate the purpose, social relevance and its community impact which centres women’s voices in the arts and reflects real experiences within our local creative sector. We wish to attract local sponsorship for our production as it also helps spotlight the work of local artists and the cultural activity taking place in the South Coast region, an area blessed with arts and creativity.”
Rehearsals are being held at the Uvongo Town Hall.
The Wild Coast has sponsored the venue. “We are so grateful to them for giving us a venue free of charge.”
If anyone is able to provide sponsorship, contact Madulini on 0786404050.
