Security training for unemployed youth

The aim is to empower youths who can then contribute to the community's socio-economic development.

An empowerment initiative by Fezela Protection Security Training Centre and the South African National Civic Organisation (Sanco) has offered unemployed Ugu youths sponsored security training. For the inaugural session of the programme, the entities recently partnered to train 11 youths.

Sanco Ugu regional secretary Mthunzi Mqadi said Fezela has successfully equipped the youths with Grades E,D and C in security services and covered their Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (Psira) registration fees.

“This initiative in collaboration with Sanco aims to empower youths and contribute to the community’s socio-economic development. Fezela plans to expand this programme, targeting more beneficiaries this year. The company is grateful to Sanco for identifying the beneficiaries and looks forward to partnering with additional sponsors to amplify this impactful initiative. It has reaffirmed a commitment to fostering community growth and providing opportunities for the youth,” said Mqadi.

Fezela spokesperson Jennifer Cele said the beneficiaries comprised six students from Gamalakhe under KwaMavundla Tribal Council of Inkosi Dumisani Mavundla and five from Bethani area under Nsimbini Tribal Council of Inkosi Sazi Ndwalane.

“We are enthusiastic about this initiative and we’re thrilled to have empowered these young individuals with skills to open doors to employment opportunities. We aim to make a lasting impact in our community,” said Cele.

She added that Fezela plans to expand this programme, targeting more beneficiaries this year and looks forward to partnering with additional sponsors.
